Despite having been officially “spring” for over a week, today was the first day where the weather was actually worth spending time outside. So that’s exactly what we did!
Inspired by Pixie, combined with our wanting to plant a garden for years, we embarked on our journey today by tearing up the soil to make a bed for our little seedlings. Herb did the shoveling, and I was the “hoer.”

“Those shorts should be illegal.”
Herb suggested that I wear gloves, but we all know how well I listen…. I probably don’t need to tell you that I ended up with a blister on my hand. I had no idea something like that could make my hands so tender. It’s a good thing I’m not a spanker… or someone would be in trouble!
We hope to start our planting next weekend, so check back here to see how I’m doing. I’m pretty excited!

You were the “hoer”?
Blisters are no fun. Wherever you might get them.
I would organize a political rally if anyone dared to try to make your shorts illegal.
Growing your own stuff is apparently getting more popular. Let us know what you’ve planted, and have fun.

Those shorts are perfectly okay and legal as far as I’m concerned.
Planting a garden can be very rewarding, and I hope everything grows successfully for you.

It’s just the time to whip our gardens back into shape Chloe. Lots of cutting back and raking up ahead of you I think. Apparently flower gardening can become a passion; it can also be overwhelming. You better get your gloves on woman.
Good luck with the gardening Chloe.

“I had no idea something like that could make my hands so tender.” yep Herb was right, wear gloves but to keep your hands nice and soft and tender. After 24 years working with the soil, the skin on my palms make them feel like five fingered leather paddles.
If you need any advice on plants or anything drop me a line.
